I
recently just fulfilled my "Tangled" moment.
Ever
since I can remember I have wanted to be a ballerina. Unfortunately,
money for lessons and opportunity never seemed to meet up. Now I am
almost 34 and I have my own little budding ballerina. I have danced
at every opportunity life has given me (ps - we need more weddings,
hint-hint to those siblings who can still get hitched ;) ) but still
I dreamed of getting actual training.
As
of last Spring, my dreams finally came true. I'll admit that
before my first private lessons I felt so much like Rapunzel in
Disney's Tangled when she is out in the boat waiting to see the
floating lights.
But
you know what? 8 months in, ballet
is everything I hoped it would be and more. I will never
grace a stage (although I did dance on it with my class last
December, so fun!) or look like a stereotypical ballerina, but I am
stronger and happier than ever thanks to this opportunity.
Words cannot even express how much it has meant to me to follow up on a lifelong dream and make it a reality at an age where everyone had told me that it was “too late”. Turns out, everyone was wrong. It is never too late. So what have you always wanted to do but have been unable to find the time or opportunity to pursue it? I am telling you to go for it. Ask around and find a teacher to help you learn how to paint, play an instrument, dance, cook, or build your own log cabin, etc. And NEVER give up your dreams!
